Solemn Holy Communion

"When you look at the Crucifixion, you understand how much Jesus loved you. When you look at the Holy Eucharist, you understand how much Jesus loves you now."
— Saint Mother Teresa
This year, 11 of our children at the respite center in Starun began their First Confession and Solemn Holy Communion.
On the Wednesday before that, we conducted an "exam." We asked seriously, deeply, and sometimes even a little provocatively:
— Can the Virgin Mary hear confessions?
— If I'm ashamed, can I hide something in Confession?
— And if they say that the priest gives a "bread", is that true?
And the children answered with great confidence:
— Only the priest has the power to forgive sins.
— One cannot knowingly hide a grave sin in Confession, because then a person commits an even worse sin — sacrilege.
— After consecration, it is no longer bread, but the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We listened to them — and our hearts were filled with joy… May God grant that they may preserve this faith and love for Jesus for the rest of their lives.
And on Sunday, May 17, the children sincerely experienced their First Confession and received Jesus in Holy Communion with great attention and devotion.
Lord, we thank You for these sincere children's hearts.
Preserve in them a love for the Eucharist, the grace of God in their souls, and the desire to never offend You and always be close to You.
